Dear Reader June - August 2009

Welcome to 2 years of The Eye, herewith our 8th successful issue. Improvements this issue, not only to The Eye content, but positive changes within our office as well! We have introduced opening hours for restaurants and bars, please help us to complete this by emailing me with your business hours lenamitchell@global.co.za

We welcome on board our new Graphic Designer Joshua Mbozole and wish him the best of luck! This issue brings us a lead article on Ants (not just angry dust!) written by a very dear and close friend of mine Doctor Julian Bayliss, F.R.G.S., who may not always act it, but is very knowledgeable indeed (do I hear wedding bells?). Dr Bayliss has recently discovered the largest rain forest in Sub Saharan Africa along with a snake in Mozambique, as well as many new species of butterfly, here in Malawi, amongst a variety of other new species! I look forward to his writings for The Eye in the future… (Yes Jules I will hold you to that!).

I would like to thank John Douglas, of the Malawi Tourism Marketing Consortium, who seems to be a regular contributor for The Eye, which we greatly appreciate, despite living in England, his heart and passion certainly lies here in Malawi. Thanks to Hastings Maloya for his input on the Mulanje Porters Race, an annual event which is attracting more and more attention every year. We catch up on part 4 of Malaria, Mozzies and Mzungu – rapid test kits. In your best interest, please remember to help us keep The Eye up to date, by emailing us with changes and of course suggestions for articles are always welcome.

To all those advertisers and contributors out there, big thanks, without you this publication would not be possible.

Until next time, take care of yourself and each other!
