Malawi - The Warm Heart of Africa
Malawi is a land locked country and is bordered by Mozambique, Zambia & Tanzania. It is 840 kms (520 miles) in length and between 80 and 161 kms (50 – 100 miles) in breadth. Malawi’s total area is 118 484 square kms (48 747 square miles) of which one fifth consists of the water mass with which it shares its name, Lake Malawi.  Read More

Lodge Review: Gecko Lounge

In my opinion there is a very simple formula forjudging whether I have had a good time or not: cost = value received. Gecko Lounge certainly met with the equation and expectation. One does not need to be in a ?ve star establishment to be comfortable and to have a good time. If the money spent meets with your expectations then you are on your way to enjoyment. Read More

Restaurant Review: Don Brioni's Bristro
Upon  a  recent  visit  to  Lilongwe,  we  had  the pleasure of dining at Don Brioni’s, a comfort- able laid back bistro type setting which has an outside and inside seating option.  Should you need to wait for a table, then they also offer a charismatic bar area where you can watch the chefs prepare and cook your food.  Read More

They felt that something had to be done to stop this loss. Read More

There are 2 types of medicine: those that work and those that don’t work. If something works, then why not conduct a proper trial with thousands of people and get proper data on how many live. Wine Appreciation Course - Part 1

Fermentation is the process by which sugar is converted to alcohol by yeasts. At its simplest, wine is made by crushing grapes and allowing the natural yeasts present on the skins to come in to contact with the natural sugars present in the juice. No other human intervention is needed: crushed and fermented like this, any grapes will make wine. The winemaker, of course, intervenes in this process in many ways to affect the quality of the wine that is produced.  Read More

Malawi National Parks

In the west of the central region, bordering Zambia, is Kasungu National Park, an 800 sq mile (2100 sq km) area of natural woodland and bush with occasional stretches of more open grass. Poaching has reduced the number of some species of animals but, contrary to rumours in some quarters, there is still plenty of wildlife to be seen.  Read More
